Tomorrow will be a busy day for iCreate and friends of the Mountainair Community Garden

• 9 - 10 am, iCreate Community Garden meeting at Mountainair's art center, Mountain Arts on Broadway {Ed Note: the soil test report is available and presumably will be discussed, otherwise there is no agenda. Call Lenora at 847-2419 about the agenda}

• 10 am -  12 noon, iCreate's ukulele workshop, offered in cooperation with the Manzano Mountain Art Council and MOaB community arts education program, same location as garden meeting above.

• 1 - 2 pm, iCreate Music Outreach and Board meeting @ Lenora's house

Silk Painting Workshop Silk Painting Workshop Instructor: Claudia Fluegge Sunday, October 7th, 11am - 2pm Cost: $40 Registration and Pre-payment required. Painting on silk is a playful and colorful adventure. If you have never tried it, this is your chance to take an excellent class with the accomplished instructor and artist Claudia Fluegge. Claudia has won numerous national awards for her silk painting work and currently exhibits at Weems Gallery in Albuquerque. Class participants will start by stretching a white piece of silk over a frame. Then Claudia will lead you through an exploration of basic silk painting techniques such as salting, outlining, and applying dyes with a paintbrush. Usually there is enough time to make two pieces. Finished pieces must be steamed to fix the dyes. Claudia will charge $2 per piece if you would like her to do the steaming for you. If you have previously taken this class, she would love to have you back to do more painting. Space is limited to 12 people, so call 247-1172 to register and pre-pay now! "Movable Masterpieces"  Ongoing Community Art-Making  Exhibit & FUN!draiser Starts Friday, Jan. 6th, 5 - 8 pm OFFCenter's emerging and established artists together with your family and friends can move from "masterpiece" to "masterpiece" on Friday night, (Jan., 6th) as you paint artwork together. Make an offer on any painting you like at any stage until the last brushstroke on Jan. 18th. All proceeds benefit OFFCenter Community Arts - a safe place for everyone to make art free of charge.

Shrines from the Glass Graveyard Found Object Workshop with Lindy Hirst Thur., Jan. 12, 2012, 6 - 8 pm Free but call 247-1172 or email: studio808@qwestoffice.net to register Lindy will bring her personal collection of melted glass bottles and trinkets dug up from Albuquerque’s famous Glass Graveyard for you to explore shrine making with these antique relics. Lindy Hirst, founder of THE STUDIO and teacher of many of its classes and workshops, is a long-time New Mexico resident. She received her MFA from the University of New Mexico and has spent many years sharing her extensive knowledge with students from all over the state. This series of workshops and open studio time are brought free to the public in part thanks to funding from The FUNd at Albuquerque Community Foundation, New Mexico Arts and Bernalillo County. If you sign up for a workshop, please inform us at least 24 hours in advance if you're unable to attend, so we can have time to notify those on the waiting list.
