Sat Nov3 Meetings & More: CommunityGarden & iCreate

Tomorrow will be a busy day for iCreate and friends of the Mountainair Community Garden

• 9 - 10 am, iCreate Community Garden meeting at Mountainair's art center, Mountain Arts on Broadway {Ed Note: the soil test report is available and presumably will be discussed, otherwise there is no agenda. Call Lenora at 847-2419 about the agenda}

• 10 am -  12 noon, iCreate's ukulele workshop, offered in cooperation with the Manzano Mountain Art Council and MOaB community arts education program, same location as garden meeting above.

• 1 - 2 pm, iCreate Music Outreach and Board meeting @ Lenora's house

Garden Notes and Update, Joan Embree

Tomas and I hauled in the hoses at the garden on Friday and stored the connectors & c in the sheds. The cold weather has taken away the need for timed watering, but the herb bed could still use a drink from time to time.  If we plant garlic, that will also need occasional winter watering.

We did not start picking up the bed edgings or Lenora's wonderful decorative bits but were thinking about securing the bird houses & c. so that they won't "disappear" over the winter. We can help get them into the shed or your truck on Saturday.

     

Also, there seems to be a lingering question about what's IN that soil and whether it's good for a garden or not.  Before we till up the whole area, shouldn't we talk about other possible options?  Maybe by Saturday, I can check on how much it would cost to haul in a load of topsoil.*  We could schedule some more manure pick-ups, also, so that we could "age" the stuff over the winter, to be dug in next spring.

     

Saturday is probably the best time to talk about all these things, so we need as many people as possible to show up for the meeting.  I don't have your list of gardeners, but  you will probably be writing to everybody again before Saturday, so you can include everyone in that message.

*  The community garden has some money in its My Bank account, so I will bring the checkbook and all of that on Saturday.
