Sat., March 24th, 10 am - Noon "Nature of Happiness" Project: Block Printing on Fabric Workshop @ National Hispanic Cultural Center
Age 5 and up are invited to participate. Adabel Allen from OFFCenter Community Arts Project will provide instruction for basic block printing using styrofoam plates to print on fabric. This is part of OFFCenter's Nature of Happiness series of workshops inviting people to create images from elements of nature that create happiness for them.
FREE but call (505) 247-1172 to register. Class is limited to 15 participants.
Workshop will be held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center Classroom, 1701 4th Street SW Albuquerque, NM 87102. All materials and tools will be provided.
If you would like to bring a little of your own fabric that you want to try to print on, feel free. Non-textured, tight weaves, usually produce the best impressions.
Adabel Allen is an artist/printmaker with a BFA with Honors in Printmaking, Summa Cum Laude. She is OFFCenter's Program Development & Marketing Manager and a member of New Grounds Print Workshop.

Skirt + Curtain = SKIRTANS! |
Sat., March 24 11 am - 2 pm Skirtains! with Becky Johnson
You will create your own unique skirt by recycling ready-made interior drapes. Students must be able to operate a sewing machine and bring a working sewing machine to class. If making a "skirtain" for oneself, students should have close fitting garments or leotards available to wear for fitting purposes.

Maxims, Truisms & Oxymorons"
Non-Juried Community Art Exhibit.
Opens Friday, April 6th, 5-8pm
While a stitch in time, may save you nine...what does that look like? Artists explore the realm of words as images and constructions which depict the maxims, truisms & oxymorons of life. Call for submissions: Artists may submit up to 2 pieces in any medium. You are encouraged to incorporate the saying you are using as inspiration either in the artwork itself or in the title. Non-juried, no fee. Submissions due: March 28th - April 4th during our regular open studio hours: Tu - Th: 1 - 7pm, Fr: 1 - 5pm, Sa: 10 am - 2 pm.

Seeking a space for our puppets!
We are seeking a kind, generous person or business who would like to donate a storage space for our Folk Art Festival Giant Puppets. We could use a 10' x 10' storage space to keep the puppets and Folk Art Festival creations safe, dry and happy throughout the year until they're ready to go on parade!

"Albuquirky Little Houses" Silent Auction, May 4, 5-9pm at Sumner & Dene, 517 Central during Frank McCullough's opening reception.
OFFCenter's 7th Annual Albuquirky House Tour Fundraiser is preceded by a separate Silent Auction Fundraiser for OFFCenter featuring "Quirky Little Houses" by over 100 established and emerging artists. Bidding starts @ $25 for each "Little House" and ends at 8 pm
All proceeds benefit OFFCenter - a safe, community arts center providing open studio space, materials, and skill-building workshops in the visual, literary and musical arts to the entire public -- free of charge.
